1. Introduction GestureCam (“the App”) is a hands-free camera application that enables you to capture photos, Live Photos, and videos using hand gesture recognition and optional location tagging. This Privacy Policy describes how the App handles information, what data is accessed, how permissions are used, and the measures we take to safeguard your privacy. By using the App, you agree to this policy. If you disagree with any part of the policy, please discontinue use.
  2. Data Controller and Contact The App is developed and operated by the app owner (“we,” “us,” or “our”). Contact information is available through the App Store listing or the in-app support link provided in the Settings screen. We are responsible for controlling and safeguarding the data processed by the App on your device.
  3. Data Collection Overview GestureCam is designed to operate with minimal data handling. The App: • Does not create user accounts. • Does not collect personal identifiers such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, or device identifiers. • Does not transmit analytics or usage metrics to external servers. • Performs all core processing on the device itself.
  4. Permissions and On-Device Usage The App requests access to certain device capabilities in order to provide you with key features. Each permission is optional, and you can manage permissions at any time through the iOS Settings app.

4.1 Camera Access Purpose: Capturing photos, Live Photos, and videos; enabling real-time hand pose detection. Data Handling: Camera input is processed live on the device to display the viewfinder, capture media, and recognize gestures. No camera frames or imagery are transferred off your device unless you explicitly share the resulting media using iOS share sheets or export functions. User Control: You may enable or revoke camera access at any time via iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera. Without access, the App cannot capture media.

4.2 Microphone Access Purpose: Recording audio when capturing videos or Live Photos with audio. Data Handling: Audio is captured only during recording sessions and stored alongside the video or Live Photo you choose to save. Audio data is not transmitted to external services or logged by the App. User Control: Microphone access may be revoked through iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone. If disabled, video captures will be silent.

4.3 Photo Library Access Purpose: Saving captured media and optionally retrieving App-created assets. Data Handling: The App requests “add-only” or limited read access so it can store photos and videos you capture. It does not scan or access your entire library. When permitted, it reads only the assets that the App created to facilitate preview, deletion, or sharing. User Control: Manage photo access in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos. If access is removed, media can still be held in the App’s temporary storage but may not be saved to Photos.

4.4 Location Access (Optional) Purpose: Embedding geolocation metadata into new captures for your personal reference. Data Handling: If you grant permission, location data is recorded as EXIF metadata only for new captures taken while permission is active. The App does not transmit location information to external servers or store location logs. User Control: Location usage is optional and may be enabled, limited to “While Using the App,” or disabled in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services. You can also disable geotagging within the App’s Settings. If disabled, new captures omit location metadata.

4.5 Gesture Recognition and Machine Learning Purpose: Detecting supported hand poses (palm, fist, victory sign) to trigger camera actions. Data Handling: The App uses Apple’s Vision framework to analyze camera frames in real time. Gesture detection is executed entirely on-device. No gesture data is stored, recorded, or sent externally. The App currently enforces palm recognition for captures to ensure consistent performance and reliability. User Control: You can toggle gesture recognition within the App’s Settings or toolbar. When disabled, captures must be initiated manually.

  1. Data Storage and Retention 5.1 On-Device Storage • Captured media is saved to your Photos library or retained temporarily within the App until you choose to save or discard it. • Preference settings (e.g., gesture toggles, Live Photo defaults) are stored in local app storage via UserDefaults. These values remain on your device and are removed if you uninstall the App.

5.2 No Cloud Storage The App does not upload or back up data to the developer’s servers. If you use iCloud Photos or other Apple services, data may sync according to your Apple settings, outside the App’s control.

5.3 Retention Policy The App retains data only as long as you keep it on your device. When you delete media from Photos or uninstall the App, associated data is removed. We do not maintain independent archives or logs.

  1. Data Sharing and Third Parties • The App does not share, sell, rent, or transfer any personal data or media to third-party services. • No advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or third-party data processors are integrated. • Sharing occurs only when you explicitly use system share sheets or export options, in which case the handling of your media is governed by the selected destination service.
  2. Security Measures • On-device processing ensures that sensitive camera and microphone inputs do not leave your device. • The App leverages the operating system’s sandboxing and permission controls to limit access to other data. • When interacting with Photos, the App uses Apple’s APIs, which enforce secure read/write operations.
  3. User Choices and Controls • Permissions: Grant or revoke at any time via iOS Settings. Some features may be limited without specific permissions. • Gesture Controls: Enable or disable hand gesture recognition via in-app controls. • Live Photos and Flash: Manage operational settings in the toolbar to balance functionality and privacy preferences. • Location Metadata: Toggle geotagging in in-app preferences. Previously saved media may retain metadata unless removed via the Photos app.
  4. Children’s Privacy The App is intended for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided permissioned media or settings without consent, manage the content via Photos or uninstall the App. Because the App stores all data locally, no direct requests to the developer are needed to delete information.
  5. International Users GestureCam is distributed through Apple’s App Store. By using the App outside your home jurisdiction, you acknowledge that local laws may differ from those in your country. Because data remains on your device, cross-border transfers by the App do not occur. Any subsequent sharing via Apple services falls under Apple’s privacy and security practices.
  6. Legal Basis for Processing (EU/EEA, UK, and Similar Jurisdictions) While the App does not collect personal data in the traditional sense, permissions rely on your explicit consent. By granting access to camera, microphone, photos, or location, you provide the legal basis for the App to process that information for its stated purposes. You may withdraw consent at any time by revoking the relevant permission.
  7. Changes to This Policy We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect new features, legal requirements, or user feedback. Updates will be posted within the App’s Settings view under “Privacy Policy,” with a revised “Last Updated” date. We encourage you to review the policy periodically.
  8. Contact Information For privacy-related questions or concerns, reach out via the support contact listed in the App Store or through the “Support” link provided in the App’s Settings. Responses will address only high-level guidance, as we cannot access any data stored on your device.
